Writing Tips!

Here are some helpful tips to help improve your writing. Hope you find them useful!

1) Complete an SAT Question of the Day: http://apps.collegeboard.com/qotd/question.do
These questions cover SAT level math and english, and are good tests of your ability. As you complete these problems, you will find that your writing and math are improving. You can also sign up to have these questions sent to you daily for further convenience.

2) Type emails or write letters to your friends. If you do this without using abbreviations while also utilizing precise vocabulary, you will automatically improve your writing.

3) Read! Reading stimulates the imagination (which in turn makes your writings a lot more colorful and fun) and improves vocabulary. There are so many books and texts to choose from. Read a newspaper, an article, a book, a short story, a textbook exerpt, a poem, or anything else that interests you. Reading is entertaining, calming, adventurous, and stimulates your brain all at the same time!

4) Brainstorm a story during your spare time. Find something that interests you in your surroundings and mentally think up a story about it. It can be a funny tale or a serious one. Have fun thinking of different characters with different personalities. If you really like your story, you can even write it down and post it on the blog to share!

If you have any other suggestions on improving your writing, please blog and tell us about it!
